Ahola
A calm, cool, and collected brand identity inspired by surfing.
Ahola is a brand I created from scratch — premise, positioning, name, and design — to explore a real category problem. A self-initiated concept, not a client engagement.

The Premise
Ahola is a brand I invented — a San Diego surf retailer carrying boards, menswear, and accessories, plus its own branded merchandise. I wanted to design the identity for a shop you’d actually want to spend time in.
The Challenge
Surf branding fails in two predictable directions: too corporate and it loses the soul, too loose and it stops looking like a business. The brief was something sharp yet laidback — precise enough to feel considered, relaxed enough to feel like the beach.
The Approach
Inspired by the laidback nature of beach life, I designed something minimal and clean that still retained some sun-bleached character. The relaxed-but-calculated look captures both the mood of the beach and the strategic precision surfing actually requires — extended across storefront, digital, and apparel so the brand behaves consistently everywhere.
“The relaxed but calculated look and feel captures both the mood of the beach and the strategic precision required to surf skillfully.”

The Result
The identity works as both a retail mark and a lifestyle brand — the kind of logo that functions on a shop window and still earns a place on a t-shirt someone buys on purpose.
Jordan not only listens to clients to understand their needs but also asks appropriate questions to ensure the end product is compelling enough to drive the project to the next step. I highly recommend Jordan to anyone seeking a top-notch graphic designer!
